Recently bought G5 graphite shafts 5-PW iron set on sale for $ 380. I have a steel shaft is usually a choice but I can not hold back because of a set of Ping temtation especially having heard much about it.
After playing 2 rounds, my comments are: -
a) this iron easy to hit. This little swing to forgive imperfection. serious weaknesses such as topping, pushing etc punished with the loss of distance and direction.
b) a high ball flight is good in someway and not good at others. Ensures high ball flight straight shots but it was difficult to play in windy conditions.
c) graphite rod that consistently perform no evidence but it is too soft play boy aldila since this is a man-made shafts. My swing speed is measured at about 85-90mph. I think if I slowed down to 80mph, will be ok.
d) the head with either chrome steel (matt silver) and well made. However, there is something about finishing I can not get used to the matt-finishing. Plasticky and seems to somehow give the impression that my plastic chrome (website says he is 17-4 stainless steel)
e) even hit a little feedback that there is little or no feeling. Callaway Big Bertha 2004 I have a couple hitting the shot felt good although it has weakened the channel.
f) the color code system is fitted (for variation of the lie angle) is a benefit for people who are not included in the definition of a standard body frame manufacturer. The Callaway Big Bertha does not offer a variety of angles and lied and lied standard length is tailored for someone who is 5ft 10in with short sleeves. Ping standard set up is more plausible because 1 / 2 inch shorter and 1 / 2 deg flat. I can not get a red dot sets but I can tolerate the standard black dot.
Overall, this is good for beginners and high handicappers. Mid to low handicappers should find stiff graphite or steel shafts.
